Well, here we go again. Wow, I can't believe a whole year has slipped by us so
quickly. For all you loyal SPLASH readers, our February issue is always a special
one to read. We've always got so much to show and tell, action-packed World Finals
coverage, the latest products and new style watercraft, plus more World Finals Coverage! Along with the intense competition among the different countries,
the World Finals has always been a place for people to sort of strut their stuff.
Especially when it comes to wild watercraft. For the past three years I've had the
pleasure of photographing the most radical custom watercraft under the sun. This month's
custom master goes to those warped race fans in Oregon. Speaking of warped and twisted,
the individual responsible for this month's custom is Johnny Dady, owner of "Blowsion
Liquid Artworx." Johhny is known for taking his projects to the extreme. Johnny
started with one of the most radical stand-ups on the market. |
| The Yamaha FX-1 is a
wolf in sheep's clothing. It's smaller stature (compared to the SuperJet) is never to be
underestimated. Stuffed inside the FX-1 is Yamaha's potent 701 powerplant. This is what
makes the FX-1 so popular with the speed freaks. The weight-to-power ratio is incredible,
plus Yamaha's new hull design allows for great handling and stability. The engine was left
completely stock, the owner was satisfied with the 701's powerband and overall response.
His friends say he can barely hang on to it now, oh well!

On the exterior, what can we say? I think he sniffs too
much paint. First Mr. Blowsion completely stripped off its stock garb, then he lost his
mind in a pool of paint, he maybe even invented some new colors. Can't wait to see what he
comes up with next year! In the handling/traction department Jettrim Products fitted some
of their special hand-crafted soft ware. Dean Morton of Jettrim shaved down the side mats
and custom covered them in matching materials. The chest pad also received Dean's magic
touch; he lowered, cut, then recovered the OEM unit for a different look and effect. For
improved comfort and positive traction, a Jettrim "Nada-Hyde" mat was placed
over the stock rubber setup. |
Just in case you
haven't noticed, we want to thank our model Tiffany Richardson for all her help and
patience. This particular shoot was in a difficult and very uncomfortable location. She
turned out to be a real professional, when things got rough, As for the Blowsion/Oregon
crew, where is my free trip to Hawaii that you owe me? Until next time, ride smart and
play safe. ... TK
Just add water! Tiffany Richardson and a Yamaha
FX-1, what more could you ask for? Maybe an umbrella and a sunset.
