Every year it just keeps getting bigger and beter! I'm talking about the World Finals at Lake Havasu City, Arizona. The'93 event was nothing short of spectacular, with its killer viewing layout, the vendor booths, the great weather and of course, the cool people. It all added up to make this year's race event the best one ever.

Unfortunately, I spent about 90 percent of my time looking through a camera lens. I keep telling myself that one of these years, I'm going to just go there as a spectator and keep a low profile!

Another great thing I look forward to are all of the custom and modified watercraft found at the World Finals. Each year, my good friends (and major jokers) from Oregon make the long trek down to Havasu and display their awesome goods.

Some of you may or may not know who these guys are, but the styles and paint jobs performed by John Dady of Blowsion Kolors instantly become tattooed in your mind.

Randy Jungworth Tuned Motor
Oregon's finest tuner, Randy Jungwirth, of Watercraft Connection, cranked up the power on his 550-based reed motor. It sports dual 38's, radical porting, total loss ignition and a bunch of other hidden tricks!

This time I attempted to try my luck at shooting two customs at once. We decided to use John McGregor's Yamaha Super Jet on one side and some top secret owner's (fugitive?) Kawasaki 550 on the other side.

Well here's how the line-up goes. John's 1990 Super Jet was built by Randy Jungwirth at Watercraft Connection.  Randy based the engine mods around a "Limited" class race package.  The exterior received its colors and lines by Master John of Blowsion Kolors.  The rest of the package is rounded out with Jettrim sculpted mats and chin pad mod, a Skat-Trak progressive impeller, Pro-Tec grate and rev-limiter, a Sato Engineering billet throttle lever, Plot bilge kit, plus custom bars and grips.  McGregor claims future high-end engine mods are in the picture.

The nameless fugitive's 550 Kawasaki was built and painted by the same two Oregon mad scientists.  This 550's reed cylinder-based engine was given massive doses of steroids.  Dual 38mm Mikunis, two Ocean Pro Vortex flame arrestors, radically ported (Watercraft Connection) cylinder, Rogo head, PJS exhaust system and a Jetcraft Engineering resonator setup.

The pump section was fitted with a Skat-Trak impeller, bored nozzle and a Watercraft Connection Works pump.

The rest of the craft was rigged up with an MMF handlepole, Jettyim "Freestyle" mats, chin pad, one-piece bars, subplate and Pro-nose brace.

Custom Handlebars

Before John applied the paint job, he disassembled the entire 'Ski, fitted a new Blowsion Bronco nose and went bonkers on reinforcing the entire hull for ocean/wave riding.  The hood was even modified to decrease excessive water intake.  Finally the exhaust was re-routed out the back with a two-inch hull silencer.

Once Blowsion was satisfied with all the prep work, they cut loose with the paint and chemicals.  To all you "Jokers" in Oregon, we look forward to your next visit to Havasu.  For all of you who missed last year's World Finals, hope you can find the time to make the '94 event! We're sure it's going to be bigger and even better.
